Self
(A mixed-media serie of analogue film (35 mm to 4x5 inch), polaroid, polaroid sx70, scans, digital photography and video).
Self is a long-term, personal project in which I photograph, document and explore my own body, identity and life course. The series spans more than four decades and consists of -rephotographed- analogue negatives or positives (from 35mm to 4x5 inches), Polaroids, Sx70 polaroids, -scans of- contactsheets and digital photography and video.
In exploring light, colour, composition, and materials, I was often both photographer and model. What began as a practical choice — being available as a model during technical or content-related experiments — grew into an intimate timeline: a visual record of my changing presence, identity, and state of being. How I show myself, see myself and change; how the body becomes a carrier of time, memory and perception.
Rather than simply digitising analogue work, I rephotograph -part of- negatives, scan contact sheets, and combine past and present imagery into single frames. These layered photographs are not just documents, but contemplations — about memory, transformation, and the construction of self over time.
Each image is a meditation on presence and perception — a mirror of who I was, and who I am.
